Freedom scientific has a clean update for jaws 12 on their web site now. But two days ago, there was quite a glitch and I got the glitch. My Pc cursor would not read anything. Usually I wait to put in a new update but on a whim just updated automatically. If you need help, FS can now help you fix the problem if you call them. Thought I would put out the info.

Ugh. Just one more reason to be glad I don't use JAWS anymore. I may go back to it in the job setting but only as an absolute last resort, if there's absolutely no way WIndow-Eyes can be made to work with whatever software is used at whatever job I get.

I never saw the update, so maybe it was taken down quickly. However, you could always have returned your computer back to the state it was in directly after you installed it. That is standard if a program doesn't work as expected. Ditch it, until it does. Smile. To the poster above. Whatever you use could have the same issue. Smile. Better watch out. Freedom Scientific has a great update record.

What kind of "glitch was it"?

I bought my own computer so could not return it to anybody. The glitch was it took out the PC cursor's reading ability; you couldn't read anything when you used the PC cursor; it just said blank. And with the numb pad up and down arrows, it also said blank. Couldn't read internet, word or my Email. I used to work on weekends and week days for a transcription service; glad I wasn't working when this happened. Am retired. FS really does have a good record and I agree that this could have happened to any program update they put out on any programs, although this was extremely odd. The young person I talked to on the phone sounded prepared for me to start yelling about the product. How those folks kept their cool I have no idea because on Friday when I did call, the voice prompt said it would take 39 minutes to talk to anybody.

I'd never, ever update my working computer unless I was sure the updates, from anyone, were working properly. When I did, I'd do it when I had time to fix any problems that might arrise. I turn the automatic update feature off on everything. I'm just not that brave. Lol The latest is decent. I'm now able to use IE 9, so kind of interesting. I always from time to time lose the ability to use the Napster client completely, and that has happened this update, but this time I'm not sure if its Jaws or IE. The zones working fine. Mess up my Zone and I might get mad and switch to Firefox and Window Eyes forever. Lol
